Nearly a decade ago the Knopf Publishing Group began a special tradition. To celebrate National Poetry Month, one poem a day was sent by e-mail to anyone who asked to receive them for 30 days. Now, with over 25,000 subscribers, Knopf introduced a compilation of poems from the 2006 Knopf National Poetry Month Celebration. The all-star line-up of contributing poets include David Young, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Jane Mayhall, Kevin Young, J.D. McClatchy, Mark Haddon, James Merrill, Marge Piercy, Kenneth Koch, Thomas Hardry, and June Jordan. Readers include Joan Didion, Sarah Arvio, Deb Garrison, Mark Strand, Franz Wright, Jack Gilbert, Sharon Olds, Alexander McCall Smith, John Updike, Julian Barnes, and Toni Morrison.
